FACE Amusement Group Embraces National Down Syndrome Society for 2019 “Bear Hugs” Initiative

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 13, 2019) – FACE Amusement Group, which owns and operates a growing collection of family entertainment centers across the U.S., is partnering with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) for the company’s 2019 “Bear Hugs” program. Now in its second year, the program allows guests to play specially designed claw machines at FACE Amusement locations for a chance to win a plush bear. For each bear won in 2019, FACE Amusement will donate an additional bear to NDSS, the leading human rights organization for all individuals with Down syndrome. With nearly 10,000 donated bears to date, the Bear Hugs program continues to add smiles to the young and the young at heart.

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the National Down Syndrome Society and help brighten the lives of their members through our Bear Hugs program,” said Bucky Mabe, CEO of FACE Amusement Group. “As a company, we believe it’s important to do something bigger than ourselves and give back to inspirational organizations such as NDSS.”

The National Down Syndrome Society envisions a world in which all people with Down Syndrome can enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations and become valued members of welcoming communities. One of the many ways the NDSS can do this is by hosting the Buddy Walk® Program across the nation. This event raises awareness and funds for programs that benefit people with Down Syndrome and their families. This year FACE Amusement Group has pledged to donate over 4,000 FACE Bears to these events throughout the U.S.

Additionally, FACE Amusement Group will be participating at the birthplace of the Buddy Walk® Program, New York City, this September. For this event, FACE team members will personally distribute 600 bears to NDSS members in attendance. In 2019, FACE Amusement Group will have participated in a total of 16 NDSS Buddy Walk® Programs.

Other philanthropic programs launched by FACE Amusement Group include the STAR Foundation, where guests who do not redeem all of their points at a Fun Center will be given the option to donate them to the STAR Foundation. FACE Amusement Group will then use these points to create fun filled experiences for children and families that may not have the same opportunities that others are afforded. FACE Amusement Group is continually working to give back to the community in every way possible.
